This powerful one-hour documentary brings a crucial chapter of African American and Kansas history to life. Follow the final leg of the incredible journey of formerly enslaved people who, in 1877, traveled from Kentucky to start a new life in Kansas.
Watch as a family embarks on a remarkable 35-mile trek across the vast prairie—on foot, from the depot in Ellis to Nicodemus, Kansas—seeking freedom and a future in the Promised Land.

It is with deep sadness that I share our dear friend and colleague, Julie Saddler is now dancing among the stars in heaven. Her smile and welcoming spirit will live on in our hearts. I was unable to share and re-post her obituary. Her services will be on Tuesday, September 1 in Colby, KS.

Exciting things are happening at Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park!

Construction on a new visitor center started this week, and we're thrilled to see this project move from vision to reality. As work continues over the coming months, you'll likely notice construction equipment and activity near the parking area and trailheads.

Don't worry, the park will remain open throughout construction. Just be sure to respect construction fencing and avoid work areas while you're visiting.

Thanks for your patience as we invest in the future of this incredible place. We can't wait for you to see what's ahead in early 2027!
