Gulf County also has a leave no trace policy. This is a major reason why. It's for animal and human safety alike. Please make sure you take your items off the beach every day. It is your home for the week but their home all the time. 🫶🏻

This is heartbreaking. The rarest sea turtle is the Kemp Ridley, and this one washed up deceased in Walton County tangled in A BEACH CHAIR. This is why we are so fiercely dedicated to educating people on the importance of removing your items from the beach. We will never stop. This is why.
Please…please remove all items from the beach when you leave for the day. It’s easy to think a small chair is not a big deal, but this shows that it IS a big deal. I can promise you that carrying a chair off the beach is nothing compared to what this turtle went through. Please help us spread the word and keep this from happening again.

Do you know what a mermaid's purse is? 🧜🏻‍♀️

A "mermaid's purse" is the common name for the tough, leathery egg cases laid by certain marine animals. Instead of giving birth to live young, about 40% of shark species and all skates lay their fertilized eggs in these unique pouches. They are a fun and common find here on our beaches.

It's amazing how nature works. Normally you would never find so many of these washed up at once but these lightweight Keyhole Sanddollars are not strong swimmers so the tide pushed up hundreds of them. Always make sure your sand dollars tiny hairs are no longer moving and are discolored before taking them home. If they are moving or still producing yellow dye, please try to throw them back to give them a chance. 🫶🏻🐚
