Meet our October Animal Ambassador spotlight, Bala!

If there’s a path to wander, Bala is already leading the way. This Golden Retriever never turns down a good walk, and Monica says those simple adventures are what brighten her day the most.

For seven years, Bala has brought gentle joy to travelers, often turning a stressful moment into a smile with just a wag of her tail.

A great day with myTalk 107.1 at MSP for their Project Down & Dirty. From a live interview with Jana Webster, Airport Foundation MSP President & CEO, to in-terminal activations with myTalk 107.1 personalities, the spotlight shined on Pet Duets, Animal Ambassadors, and Volunteers and how we work together to elevate the travel experience and to support the aviation community.

Thanks to myTalk 107.1 Hosts Bradley and Marley (filling in for Dawn) and their fanbase for their heartfelt contributions through the program's fundraising efforts! In addition, a special thanks to Lakeville Family Pet Clinic for matching listeners' donations!

As part of myTalk 107.1 Project Down & Dirty at MSP, the Airport Foundation MSP will be featured in multiple ways, including activations joined by myTalk hosts, as well as live “on air” interviews with Foundation leaders. Each year, the Project Down & Dirty also helps to raise funds for local charities. For this year's Project Down & Dirty, the Airport Foundation MSP has been selected as one of the recipient charities.

The current schedule of live interviews (subject to change) is as follows.

- Wednesday, October 21 at 12 p.m. - Jana Webster, President & CEO
- Thursday, October 22 at 1 p.m. - Sara Ernst, Director, Volunteer Programs
- Friday, October 23 at 2 p.m. - Ben Owen, Director, Arts@MSP

Entertaining MEA travelers can be exhausting work, but someone has to do it. MSP Animal Ambassador Riley was certainly on her game as she joined Musician DGS for a Pet Duets activation in Terminal 1 on October 15. The Terminal 1 performance followed a Pet Duets activation in Terminal 2 on October 14 by the Nate Hance Trio and Animal Ambassador Greta on Wednesday, October 14.

Approximately 50,000 people were forecast to pass through security checkpoints on both Wednesday, Oct. 14 and Thursday, Oct. 15, the two busiest days for the MEA travel period.

Make a difference with your therapy animal at MSP! 🐾✈️

For over a decade, our certified teams have greeted travelers with calm, kindness, and wagging tails.

To participate:

• Must be certified with Pet Partners or Alliance of Therapy Dogs

• Therapy animal must be at least one year old

• Maintain current therapy activity

• Volunteer for two 1.5‑hour shifts monthly

October Volunteer Spotlight 😁

Meet Joe Levens, a dedicated volunteer who has been part of the Airport Foundation MSP family for 13 years! Joe typically serves during mid‑day shifts, where he gets to do what he loves most: helping people problem‑solve, even the smallest things.

His favorite part of the role?
“Never knowing what passengers will ask. Being able to help with big and small concerns.”

Joe encourages anyone who loves helping others (and great people watching!) to give volunteering a try.
