To elevate the travel experience and support the aviation community ✈️😁 Paul International Airport (MSP).

The Airport Foundation MSP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based out of the Minneapolis-St. The Foundation dedicates itself to enhancing the experience and exceeding the expectations of travelers at MSP Airport, as well as supporting the airport and broader aviation community. The Foundation's Travelers Assistance program has become a model for airports around the world and has helped to ran

k the MSP Airport as one of the top airports in North America. Hundreds of highly trained volunteers assist over two million travelers annually with information, way-finding, and a variety of special services. Also, in partnership with the Metropolitan Airports Commission, the Foundation's Arts@MSP program is dedicated to enhancing the image of the MSP Airport, enriching the public’s experience and promoting a sense of place through arts and culture. Arts@MSP showcases murals, sculptures, community exhibits, rotating art exhibitions, and musical and theatrical performances. Other worthy projects include airport beautification efforts such as designed floor mosaics, plants and flower baskets and children’s play areas. The Airport Foundation MSP offers unique and rewarding volunteer experiences in a variety of roles including customer service, animal ambassadors and helpers, arts and culture and more! Art’s favorite part?
"Being able to offer a 'helping' hand to travelers. I have always said that as a Volunteer you can do the littlest thing to assist a traveler, and it can be so appreciated. I always enjoy it when I offer suggestions, and later a traveler will stop back and personally thank me."

Congratulations to John Perendy on receiving an MSP Nice award! ⭐

A traveler wrote, "I was completely turned around after my boyfriend asked me to see him off at his gate in Terminal 1 before heading to my own gate in Terminal 2. As a first-time traveler at MSP, I quickly lost my sense of direction. Thankfully, I came across John at an information desk, and he went above and beyond by personally escorting me to exactly where I needed to be. Travel can be stressful but John brought kindness, knowledge, and a calm presence that made all the difference. I am truly gratful for his help and want to ensure he recieves the recognition he deserves. Thank you, John, for your exceptional service. Your kindness made a bigger impact on my day than you may ever realize."

The Customer Service Action Council at the MSP Airport presents the MSP Nice Awards in recognition of outstanding customer service delivered by the Award recipients, as reported by travelers. Travelers typically email or call to acknowledge good deeds done by employees and volunteers. The MSP Nice Awards are presented to honorees representing all facets of Customer Service at the MSP Airport.

Meet our August Animal Ambassador spotlight, Jasper! 🐾✨

Jasper, a gentle English Creme Retriever, is known for carrying his beloved stuffed toys everywhere he goes but never tearing them apart, just proudly showing them off. Each year, he receives a new favorite during his visits at Shriner’s Children’s, and it becomes his constant companion until the next one comes along.

Scott and Jasper have been volunteering as an Animal Ambassador team since the summer of 2021, shortly after the airport reopened post‑Covid. As a private pilot, Scott has always felt at home in aviation, making the airport the perfect place to share comfort, connection, and a little joy with travelers.

We had such a great time at Night to Unite! Kay and Sadie loved showing everyone what makes being a therapy animal at MSP so special. ⭐️

The event was filled with safety info, giveaways, fun activities and since it is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, plenty of cookies! 🍪

Meet our August Volunteer of the Month: Janice Austad! ✨

For 13 years, Janice has been one of the friendly faces greeting travelers at our Mall South and A/B booths. She first discovered the Airport Foundation MSP through an ad to “share some Minnesota nice” and she’s been doing exactly that ever since.

Janice loves the wide range of people she meets at MSP. Vacationers buzzing with excitement, professionals on a tight schedule, families navigating tough moments; everyone brings a story.

Her advice to anyone thinking about joining our volunteer team:
“It is an awesome place to volunteer. Every now and then you get to really help someone have a better day and that feels great.”
