A little extra sweetness to start a Disney day. 🧁✨

Breakfast at The Cake Bake Shop on Disney’s BoardWalk is an experience all on its own. Between the beautiful surroundings, decadent treats, and charming atmosphere, it’s a lovely way to slow down and enjoy a little Disney magic outside the parks.

This isn’t my usual kind of post, but it feels important. There is a right and wrong way to introduce your small child to new rides. And we’ve all made mistakes in miscalculating what our child might find enjoyable vs frightening. This is not meant to judge, but rather to educate.

If you have a cautious timid child when it comes to rides, I encourage you to watch POVs before your trip. They are available on YouTube and even sometimes on Disney+. Let them watch it so many times they can anticipate every turn and drop.

Surprises are not fun for most children when it comes to thrill rides. If you know your child loves a surprising twist and turn, this message isn’t for you. If you aren’t sure, assume they won’t like it and be pleasantly surprised if they do.

It has taken years for my kids to try some of the thrill rides at Disney. Heck, it took me over 30 years! The worst method we tried was tricking them into riding or downplaying a ride that had a scary element. What works better is trusting your child to know what they can and cannot handle, and having a plan for Rider Swap if it’s a ride you really want to experience.

I don’t mean to be dramatic, but Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the single greatest piece of machinery. The first time I ride this on each trip, I cry a little. Happy tears…or maybe just my eyes watering from how fast it goes, either way it counts as an emotional experience.

My favorite song to get is Everybody Wants to Rule the World. My favorite car is row 9, in a front seat (obvs) but I wouldn’t require waiting longer to sit there. I’d ride this in any spot!!!

If you’re new to this ride, this is a hair UP ride. Hair in your face will ruin the experience due to all the sights to behold. Same with keeping your eyes closed…they must be open! Trust me.

What’s do you think the most underrated travel essential is? For me it has to be: A PONCHO.

I have used one on nearly every trip to a theme park, whether for weather (see what I did there?) or to ride a water attraction. They are cheap, compact, and incredibly handy!!!

Yes, I’m in Orlando again. But this time it’s for WORK! 😉 I just spent the last three days soaking in valuable wisdom at The Vacation Wizards’ annual conference. I learned about new (to me) vendors, toured the Disney Wish, and even won an award! THANK YOU all for believing in me and staying by me as I start this business.
