100 years ago this spring, Salem gold star families and volunteers planted 59 red oaks next to Fort Lee. (One for each Salem Soldier killed in WW1) It was said that the soil here was “actually wet by their tears.” Today, according to Chris Burke, 18 giant oaks remain. Would love to see the 41 missing trees added this year at the 100 year anniversary.

I always have some Hobbs' Popcorn made on 100 year old machines. Built as a TB recovery hospital the Willows became a Victorian seaside resort. They used to be all up and down the northeast shore but now it's one of the last. This report is from August 1980.

While we're thinking about Wuthering Heights ... This is in the Bronte house museum in Yorkshire. I didn't care for the movie. Sexed-up, but not in a good way. The whole thing was really over the top and unbelievable. Margot Robie just looked like a model, it was difficult to imagine her running wild over the moors. But the weather was the star, I guess. And the guy was certainly a very handsome Heathcliff. No complaints there!
