Rope drop strategy at Universal Orlando Resort is no joke! You either make or you don’t.
If I’m going to rope drop a ride at early entry then I want to be at the front of that line to get into the park because lines still get long during early entry.
Not all rides open for early entry, only a few of them do. So you have everyone speed walking to those select rides. If you come in at the end of early entry the the lines are likely going to be long already.
Pro Tips:
•If you want to rope drop one of the rides that opens with early entry, be sure to arrive as early as possible to get in line. You’ll want to be as close to the front as you can be. Also, make sure you know where you are going…rope drop isn’t the time to be studying a map.
•If another ride that isn’t included in early park entry is at the top of your list, you can still enter the park and hang out in the area closest to the ride you want to start with. You won’t be able to enter the area where the ride is until the park officially opens, but you should be close enough to the front of the line to enter when it does open.
•Not a morning person? It’s ok to skip early entry. Express Pass is a great option if you want to do as much as possible without being there first thing of a morning. But, even without Express Pass you can still do quite a bit. Take advantage of when times drop throughout the day. You can also save the ride with long wait times for the end of the night…this can be a little risky though because some rides can close due to weather or technical issues so if you wait to ride then you may miss your chance.
•Know your priorities. Select your top priorities before going to the park and focus on those first…then everything else is just a bonus.
