Professor Suzannah Lipscomb is an award-winning historian, author, and broadcaster, and Professor Emerita at the University of Roehampton. She has written seven books, presented history documentaries, and hosts the Not Just the Tudors podcast. Recent projects include How the Tudors Lost Their Heads with National Geographic UK and the To Kill a Queen tour with Professor Kate Williams.

HOST SPOTLIGHT: Kate McCaffrey

We adore traveling with Kate, who brings both fun and vast knowledge to our tours! We especially enjoy her perspectives on Tudor history, including our past The Boleyn Legacy Tour and our upcoming Tudor History Cruise in April 2027.

Kate McCaffrey is the Castle Historian and Assistant Curator at Hever Castle, known for her groundbreaking research on Anne Boleyn’s Book of Hours, which gained international attention in 2020. She has co-authored Becoming Anne, Holbein’s Hidden Gem, and Catherine and Anne, co-curated exhibitions, and is pursuing a doctorate at the University of Kent.

Dr. Owen Emmerson has been with us on many adventures, and we love having him as a host and friend! Previously, he has led us on trips through England, France, and more with themes of The Boleyn Legacy and Anne Boleyn’s Early Life! We are very excited to explore more Tudor history with him on our upcoming Tudor History Cruise in April 2027!

Dr. Owen Emmerson is a social and cultural historian and Assistant Curator at Hever Castle. He has authored several books, including Holbein’s Hidden Gem (2023), about the discovery of a lost book in Hans Holbein’s painting of Thomas Cromwell. His other works include The Boleyns of Hever Castle, Becoming Anne, and Catherine and Anne.

We love working with Helen Castor! We enjoyed our time with her on our Medieval History Cruise in 2026, and are very much looking forward to our Eleanor of Aquitaine Tour in April 2027!

Helen Castor, a renowned historian of medieval and Tudor England, is the author of acclaimed works such as Blood & Roses, She-Wolves, and Joan of Arc, and has presented BBC and Channel 4 documentaries, including adaptations of her books. Her latest book, The Eagle and the Hart, explores the reigns of Richard II and Henry IV. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, she was a 2022 Booker Prize judge and lives in London with her son.
