Lisangua means to "come together," and this weekend, our community did exactly that! Thank you to every person who stepped onto the floor, picked up a drum, and brought your beautiful energy to the weekend.

Together, we created a sacred space for culture, connection, and joy. Drum and dance are one continuous conversation, and your rhythm made it unforgettable.

Greetings community!!!

We are excited and getting ready for our very special LISANGUA Drum & Dance weekend!

In this video we are giving a little taste of the Ngoma drum, then walking you over to Salt City Swords where Sundays classes will be held.

Come learn African culture and celebrate life with our elders, mentors and friends Mama Mabiba Baegne, Baba Fred Simpson and Bret Balekita .

The Grand finale will be with Mama Mabiba’s Congolese dance class on Sunday. Here’s some special words of wisdom from her to you….

This is many years in the making and very happy to be of support for this very amazing opportunity!

We are honored to invite you to a 6-week All Women’s Dunun Drum Class — a sacred space for rhythm, connection, and sisterhood.

Our elder and dear teacher, mama Mabiba, who is from Congo, will be guiding us through traditional West African (Malinke) rhythms. These are not just beats — they are sacred transmissions, stories, and ancestral wisdom passed down through generations.

This offering creates space for women to step into the drum with strength, reverence, and unity. There is something profoundly powerful about women gathering together — and even more powerful when we gather in rhythm. When women drum together, we remember our voices, our bodies, and our collective power.
This class is open to all levels. Whether you are brand new to drumming or returning to the rhythm, you are welcome.

Spots are limited. We would love to drum with you.
