Even if the forecast calls for rain, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s gonna rain. The weather is unpredictable on Hatteras Island, and I find that looking up at the sky is the best predictor of the weather. And when a storm blows in, it looks a little somethin like this 😂.

Poor husband. On his last morning at the beach house last month, he learned his honey-do list involved jerry rigging a ladder on the edge of the hot tub to clean the windows. Many people have died trying to rescue rip current victims. Here are the best ways to help:

✔️ Alert the lifeguard. If no lifeguard is available, call 911.
✔️ Yell to the victim to swim parallel to the shoreline until they escape the pull.
✔️ If possible, throw the rip current victim something that floats: a boogie board, pool float, etc.
✔️Do not enter the water and do not lose sight of the victim.

Don't become a victim while trying to help someone else. Know your location and call for help.
