Jet Lag & Champagne Luxury adventures for bold hearts

Expedition cruising is a tad different as far as itineraries. You will know about where you are headed - the exact timing and location of your zodiac outing for the day isn’t usually announced until the evening before. This is b/c the Expedition Team needs to take into account weather, ship traffic etc. Here’s NGV (not great video) of what it’s like getting into the zodiac. HX does a great job with this, btw!

There is a LOT of Alaska to see. My current form of travel is expedition cruising and I’m on the HX Roald Amundsen.

What does that mean exactly? Smaller ships, visiting tiny towns and fishing villages and more adventurous activities than is normally associated with a cruise. That means that zodiacs launch directly from the ship, sea kayaking, hiking and wet landings. (Hopping out from the zodiac into shallow water to get to shore).

Here I am! This is the most relaxing, adventure trip I’ve ever been on! Recap: we are in the HX Roald Amundsen sailing from Whittier, AK to Vancouver. 12 nights. She’s an expedition ship that can launch zodiacs and kayaks. No major cities on the itinerary- just small fishing villages and towns. She can take about 500 but has only 285 pass on board. (Was 288 - buy the trip insurance!)

Here’s our room - it’s absolutely lovely - the vibe on board makes you feel at home and is always relaxed - even at go time for expeditions.

Hi all! I’m not exactly known for posting during trips… but there’s a first for everything.

We’re off to Budapest to kick off our AmaWaterways Blue Danube Discovery—sailing from Budapest to Nuremberg. I hope to share some informative stuff and well - some fun too!

First up: testing out Turkish Airline. Yes, it adds a bit of flight time—but their business class is chef’s kiss, and honestly, the journey is part of the adventure.

More to come—especially on their stopover program.

Make sure your seat is in its full upright position, your tray table is put away and your door is open..enjoy takeoff! Can I just say how much I love these cameras!

2nd full day in Dubai - hard to get a read on what the city is about. Big skyscrapers, booming construction industry, big malls..everything seems big, new and..well, I’ll reserve judgement after 2 more days. I highly recommend the VIP tour to go up to the 148th floor of the Burj Khalifa..skips lines, quiet deck and amazing 360 degree views. I would come back to Dubai again in a heartbeat..but I’m not sure why yet..go figure. Will get out to see waterfront and tour the city from the sky tomorrow.

Setting sail for 20 days with Seabourn Cruises to Antarctica. We'll visit the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island and finally make our way to the continent of Antartica and spend 5 or 6 days there. We are 3 days into our cruise and are loving it! More soon on exactly what does an expedition cruise feel like and the prep needed for a successful trip. Here's our cabin and my new jacket!

EXPEDITION cruising - Adventure & destination learning together along with zodiac rides to glaciers that boom like thunder, wildlife that wanders right up to you, and exploring places most people will only ever see in documentaries!

I’m kicking off a new series all about it — we are headed to Antarctica this next month on Seabourn and Alaska in July 2026 on HX. If you’re curious about what it’s really like to head to the bottom of the world (or you just love penguins with attitude), come follow along! (I'll even share the nitty gritty on how the Drake goes).
