What began in 1932 as a way to bring life and joy to the San Angelo and Tom Green County community during the Great Depression has become a top 10 event in the entire nation. On July 18, 2026, the San Angelo Rodeo was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, CO with several staff and board members in attendance for this historic moment and event.

In his authentic and humble fashion, SASSRA Executive Director, Justin Jonas accepted the buckle, bronze and other awards on behalf of the volunteers and staff, but was sure to thank them all in his acceptance speech. “With over 1,000 volunteers and a phenomenal staff, San Angelo is known as a town that embraces the cowboy way of life, and I just want to say that it’s just an incredible honor to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. What a great day!”

As the Visual Arts Capital of Texas, we’re always proud to showcase local artists in the award winning San Angelo Visitor Center. This evening, we welcomed our newest Artists of the Quarter with a reception. So proud to see our City of San Angelo, Texas – City Government recognized as a Tourism Friendly Texas Community under the Office of the Governor Greg Abbott! This was a multiphase process that was solidified at this morning’s City Council Meeting.

Also, a huge congratulations and many thanks to our City Manager, Daniel Valenzuela for all of his years of service to our community. You definitely left it better than you found it, Sir.
