We Will Never Forget.
Today, I pause to remember and honor the lives lost on a day that forever changed our nation. I honor the first responders, firefighters, police officers, everyday heroes, and all those who courageously sacrificed their lives while trying to save others.
September 11, 2001, also holds a very personal memory for me. That morning, I was on my way to the courthouse to obtain my DBA for the opening of my business, Hair Perfection by Laura. What was supposed to be a day marking a new beginning in my own journey became a day none of us would ever forget.
This past May, I had the opportunity to visit New York City and stand at the 9/11 Memorial, where the Twin Towers once stood. Walking alongside the reflecting pools and reading the names of the victims engraved around them was incredibly moving. There was something so beautiful, peaceful, and serene about that sacred space, a place where remembrance lives on.
Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We reflect.
May we never forget the lives that were taken, the heroes who ran toward danger to help others, the families forever changed, and the strength and unity our country showed in the days that followed.
Today, I hold gratitude a little closer and remember just how precious life truly is.
