On April 25, SA BLK HSTRY Tours had the pleasure of curating a special Black History and Wine Tasting Tour to Kai-Simone Winery in Spring Branch, TX.
This tour was even more meaningful because it was part of a birthday celebration. What better way to celebrate life than with close friends, Black history, beautiful scenery, good conversation, and wine?
On the ride to the winery, we talked about the history of Black people in the wine industry — from the erased labor of enslaved Africans in early American vineyards to the rise of Black winemakers, Black-owned wineries, and the continued importance of ownership, legacy, and representation. We also connected that history back home to San Antonio, Black business, Black travel, and the importance of supporting spaces that tell our story with dignity and joy.
Kai-Simone Winery gave our group a unique and memorable experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, the wine tasting was enjoyable, and the day reminded us that Black history is not only something we study — it is something we experience, support, and celebrate.
We are grateful for this beautiful review from Sheryl C. Womble:
“For my birthday celebration, my close friends hosted a Black History and Wine Tasting Tour to KaiSimone Winery in Spring Branch, TX. It was phenomenal! Take time to learn about our history and tour the only African American winery in this area. You will have a unique experience!”
Thank you, Sheryl, for allowing SA BLK HSTRY Tours to be part of your birthday celebration. And thank you to everyone who joined us for a day of history, fellowship, laughter, and legacy.
This is what we do: we don’t just tour places — we connect people to stories.
