Today we hit the streets of Lavapiés for a walking tour with our new friends at and let’s just say… the murals were 🔥 and so was the sun (93°F — we still refuse to convert that to Celsius).

We explored murals painted during El Festival CALLE, an annual event launched in 2014 that brings together artists and local businesses to turn Lavapiés into an open-air gallery. This year’s edition didn’t disappoint.

We saw pieces by artists like .es , , and , and even got invited inside a restaurant to see hidden works tucked behind the scenes — shoutout to that kind business owner for the AC and the access.

We’ll be sharing restaurant and coffee recs from our guide in stories (trust, they know their stuff), plus a photo of a little guy who looked ready to jump off the second story… courtesy of .

Have You Met My Sister Jen?
You won’t see many posts from the last few weeks. That’s because I’ve been grieving. On May 23rd, my sister Jennifer Nichole passed away. And since then, I’ve struggled to put words to what she meant to me—not just as family, but as one of the quiet forces behind this business.

She was there for me before Mural Ride was ever a thing. Back when I needed help adulting—like finding car insurance when I got kicked off the family plan or buying my first cell phone in 2003. She helped with the big things too—talking through business moves, cheering me on from the sidelines, and always making space for my ideas.

It took me a while to post this because I didn’t just want to write a tribute. I wanted to say something that would stick. Something that reflects who she was.

So if you’ve been wondering where the content’s been lately—this is it. This is where I’ve been. Missing my sister. Thinking about how she’d probably be up there now with my dad, watching reruns of S*x and the City while he grills something outside.

Thank you to everyone who’s been patient, supportive, and kind during this time. We’ll be back on the bikes soon. But for now, this one’s for Jen.

MEET ANGELA FOX — SAN ANTONIO MURALIST
Back in 2018, Angela was already on our radar. Phase 1 of the San Antonio Street Art Initiative had just launched, and & tapped her for what would become one of the most colorful pillars in Midtown. And guess what? She almost didn’t do it. She knocked it out—kicking and screaming.

Since then? She’s shown at the McNay, brought her surreal creatures to life along Avenue B (we hear it’s a nod to her childhood cats), and became a total force in the local art world.

From wall-to-wall magic to coasters to gallery walls, Angela's work makes you stop, stare, and smile. And yes—our guests LOVE striking a pose in front of her murals.

We’re honored to roll past her work every week. One day? We’re commissioning our first wall—and guess who’s painting it?
