Welcome home, USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72)! Wishing our brave troops much joy as they reunite with their families, friends, and loved ones. Thank you for your hard work as you deployed for over 300 long days at sea.

It was incredibly special to unite as a city to support our troops on Thursday. San Diego showed up in a big way for this historic moment. 🇺🇸 ⛵️✨

After seeing pilot whales today, a juvenile blue-footed b***y decided to land on the main boom of the yacht America. One of our guests pointed it out to us right away. Other guests came to look at it from a safe distance. This sweet bird decided to hitch a ride.

We occasionally get birds that land on our boat for maybe 10 minutes to rest and then leave. This bird stayed on our boat for over an hour. We soon realized that something was very wrong. It turned out that this bird had fishing gear in its mouth and we could see the fishing line hanging out of its mouth. Poor thing! Crew member Fathom called SeaWorld Rescue and gave them a heads up about the situation. They gave us some tips on how to rescue the bird and said they would come out to meet us if we were successful.

As soon as we docked and disembarked guests, Fathom went straight to work in order to rescue this sweet blue-footed b***y before it could fly away. As SeaWorld Rescue mentioned, these types of birds have a sharp serrated beak. She managed to get it off the boom and secured in a towel until SeaWorld rescue arrived. She was very grateful for their fast response time. They took this bird to their rehab facility in order to remove the fishing gear. Hopefully, they will be able to release it back into the wild. They have been able to do so with other blue-footed bo***es.

Pilot Whales!

We were absolutely thrilled to see these awesome pilot whales with the help of our great whale watching community. The water was exceptionally calm and the visibility was incredible. There were even several cow/calf pairs in this pod. We were delighted to see them!

ORCAS

The Eastern Tropical Pacific Orcas are still here in San Diego and we were absolutely thrilled to see them! The water was incredibly calm today, allowing the entire whale watching community to witness these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. In this short video, you can see two adults and an adorable calf. Such a sweet sight 💕

Today was a great example of the awesome teamwork that takes place here in San Diego. A fishing boat reached out to the whale watching community first thing this morning to let us all know that he had spotted the pod of orcas. Throughout the day, all the operators worked together as a team to make sure everyone was able to safely see these rare and special animals. Together, we can help protect and understand these animals. We are so grateful for this awesome community✨

Jump for joy, it’s Friday!!!

Fathom was beyond thrilled to capture this breaching humpback earlier this week. This whale breached so many times, we lost count. To see it breach so close to the yacht America was absolutely spectacular.

August 22nd, 1851: The schooner America outraced British ships while sailing around the Isle of Wight, winning a beautiful silver cup called the Royal Yacht’s Squadron £100 Cup. Later renamed the America’s Cup, this cup is the oldest active trophy in international sporting events still used today.

The 38th America’s Cup sailing race will take place in Naples, Italy in 2027. Will you be going?!

What a spectacular couple days! We saw this super friendly humpback whale on Friday and a fin whale on Saturday. There were also a ton of common dolphins! The sun is out, the water is calm. We are soaking up these beautiful summer days on the water. ✨ 🐳
