Hey my Beautiful reunion cruise participants, I pray all is well with you! I read this today from a friend of mine, I thought it was worth sharing.
"Richard Rohr gets something so right about spirituality at its core—that true spiritual healing involves a genuine transformation of the self 🦋, and touches on the pain and trauma of our deeper journeys, in both individual and collective ways.
Many people avoid getting in contact with this pain, because connecting with it IS painful, and can sometimes feel overwhelming and frightening. And many people avoid therapy for that reason. People often say, “Why would I want to go back and remember the worst parts of my past? Wouldn’t it be better to just move on and try to move past it?” Oh friends, I wish there were an easy road to healing. The truth is that there is no easy way, there is no way that does not involve pain. In therapists’ informed consents, we are literally required to inform clients that it may feel worse before it feels better ❤️🩹.
But what I can say is: There is not one person I have seen who’s done deeper personal work who’s said at the end, “I wish I hadn’t done that work. I wish I hadn’t invested the time and the money.” Therapy has been life-changing for me, and I have witnessed that transformation in my office time and time again. It’s worth it! It’s so worth it.
🔑 And another thing that’s key here: When you have someone by your side, behind you and before you, guiding you, and carrying the pain with you, it’s so much easier. Having that attuned, supportive human connection can’t subtract the pain, but it can make the pain tolerable. The connection 🔗provides the alchemy for the transformation. We do it together, we heal together. Together we RISE!✨
