I am charged with finding 4 companies or orgs whose employees utilize math or science of any kind, to which I would bring about 10 teachers to on June 13th, for a one-day "externship" (more details upon request). I have secured 3 companies so far: one in conservation science, one in biomedical/biotech (pharmacogenetics, mutation profiling, ...molecular diagnostics), and one that creates innovative and sustainable energy solutions on a large scale.
How can you help, you ask? I would appreciate connections you might have and be able to use to put me in touch with someone at a company/org that fits the profile above (high use of STEM skills) in San Diego. The teachers I work with are dedicated to serving in high-needs schools, and inspiring the next generation of STEM career professionals.
Cold-calling places hasn't gotten me very far. I have at least loose connections with the companies I've secured so far. So, do you have someone you could put me in touch with?? I'm hoping for a location distinct from the types we have listed above. Maybe a gaming design company? Some sort of high tech lab? A company that designs custom prosthetics/orthotics?
