It is the highest privilege and a profound honor to stand alongside the families of our nation’s heroes to fulfill their final wishes. In this video, we share a glimpse into a deeply moving and dignified full military burial at sea service provided for a United States Navy veteran, whose final wish was to be laid to rest in the ocean he so proudly served.

With his devoted widow present, his final journey began on land with full military honors, beautifully executed by a military Honor Guard. The service included the timeless and precise folding of the American flag, the hauntingly beautiful notes of "Taps" played by a lone trumpet player, and a powerful three-volley firing squad gun salute to honor his sacrifice and dedication to our country.

Following the military honors, the veteran was gently brought on board a sailing yacht, departing from the San Diego coast into the peaceful, open waters. Out at sea, he was laid to rest with the utmost reverence, returning to the deep in a timeless maritime tradition.

At Funerals at Sea, we believe that those who dedicate their lives to protecting our freedom deserve a farewell that reflects the magnitude of their service. We are deeply grateful to East County Mortuary for their seamless coordination and partnership, ensuring that every detail of this sacred day was handled with the grace, dignity, and respect this Navy veteran earned.

Funerals at Sea hosted a widow onto the dock today to see her sailor off on his final voyage to sea. He was provided with full military honor guard services including Taps on trumpet, flag folding and presentation, and a gun salute. It was very touching to see and a deep honor to be able to bring closure to his bride. Once the Honor Guard was finished with their traditional ceremony, we brought our guest of honor out to sea off the coast of San Diego for his final voyage and laid him to rest in the ocean he loved to sail in. Rest In Peace, Sailor!

Unattended Ash Scattering - Sometimes, for any number of reasons, families may be unable to be on board and attend the scattering of their loved one's ashes to their final resting place. I'm honored to be able to carry out the final wishes on their behalf, and send the family photos, video, and coordinates (in case they want to visit in the future). This is a VERY cost effective way to take care of that loved one that wants to be scattered at sea.
