Something strange happened this month. 🤔

Guest sentiment dropped 2.5 points on our Hosting & Travel Index, the biggest drop all year. But nobody told the bookings. Hosts earned 7.2% more per rental in July, Labor Day travel hit a record high, and fall reservations are still coming in strong. 📈

Markets are telling different stories too. Bar Harbor, Asheville, and Cape Cod are having a great season. Detroit, Cleveland, and Miami are cooling off.

The travel outlook is improving, but not every market is feeling the lift...

Hostfully’s August Hosting & Travel Index climbed to 64.5 as consumer sentiment strengthened and inflation continued to ease. At the same time, gas prices above $4 and peak hurricane season are adding pressure to the second half of summer.

Cape Cod, Bar Harbor and Myrtle Beach are leading the index, while Phoenix, Detroit and Cleveland face more challenging conditions.
