Yesterday was the official viewing of the Wong Kim Ark Commemorative Mural on Sacramento St.
128 years ago, Wong Kim Ark was denied entry to the country where he was born. The community’s fight to the U.S. Supreme Court established one of the most fundamental rights in America: If you are born here, you are a citizen. That ruling was built on the 14th Amendment, written to secure citizenship for Black Americans freed from enslavement, a reminder that the struggle for justice has always been shared.

CHSA Museum will honor Chinatown native whose legacy established the principle for birthright citizenship in the U.S. during a community celebration event.
