Fiddlehead Supper Club

Fiddlehead Supper Club Bringing people together over food and art. San Francisco is a city of food, and a city of art: music, writing, film, and more. So come in, sit down, and dig in.

We’re aiming to combine those two worlds through events that pair a sitdown dinner with performance. The format is flexible, but the purpose is not: to fill our bellies with delicious food, to meet interesting new people and connect with those we already love, and to feel like our brains are getting creative, whether because of the company, the food, the art or the booze. And – we want to say this

while still emphasizing that we’re looking to create a top-level experience here – we want to make it affordable, so that those who create art and help others and can’t spend gobs of money on a night out can still have a great time.

On March 11 we threw Fiddlehead’s inaugural event: a Middle Eastern-inspired dinner and sci-fi reading at Brick & Mortar in San Francisco for the new ebook company FreemadeSF. It was exciting, exhausting, and a success by our measures. We maxed out on guests, delivered on tasty food and drink, and g...

Celebrating the launch of FreemadeSF publishing company

From writer Nick Mamatas' blog, on last night's Fiddlehead/Freemade event:
"I also had a reading last night in San Fran, with Tim Pratt and Cliff Winnig and Mark Pantoja, which I forgot to mention here. It was a pop-up supper club (v. tasty) and an ebook launch for a new company called Freemade SF. The company's gimmick is that their ebooks come with enhanced audio—music and such. There was music at the event. I read from Love is the Law accompanied by chillwave loops. I wanted chillstep loops, dammit! It went well anyway. People like literary readings when there's food involved. Not the typical science fiction crowd, either. I was the ugliest person in the room. When I mentioned that to Olivia, she said, "No, you were probably just the least stylish person in the room.""
And yes, this is a LiveJournal link: http://nihilistic-kid.livejournal.com/1824102.html.

I am back in town, and between a cold and a flight and two late nights, I've hardly had time for anything. So, some catch-up: AWP was...fun. It could have been more fun, but weather and the distance to the venue from my Cambridge hotel (Royal Sonesta— great btw and cheap thanks to HotWire.com) …

The first Fiddlehead Supper Club at Brick and Mortar was a success! Over 45 guests dined on a delicious dinner while old sci fi moves were projected in the background. Dinner was followed by the launch party for FreemadeSF, with readings from four authors, all set to live music. Thanks to everyone who came out, and can't wait for the next one!
