🍦 Did you know Iceland has a word for an ice cream road trip?

It's called Ísbíltúr (pronounced ees-beel-tour) and honestly, we think every country should borrow this tradition.

Picture this: You grab an ice cream, hop in the car, and drive with no real destination. Just incredible scenery, good conversation, and time spent with the people you love.

In Iceland, this isn't just a summer activity. Locals do it all year long even in the middle of winter! Whether they're heading to a waterfall, a geothermal pool, or simply taking a scenic drive, an ice cream stop is part of the experience.

It's one of those little cultural traditions that reminds us that travel isn't only about checking landmarks off a list. Sometimes the moments you'll remember most are the simple ones: a roadside ice cream, an unexpected detour, and a beautiful view.

When we help plan Iceland itineraries, we love including experiences like these, the ones you won't always find in a guidebook but often become your favorite memories.

Would you try an Ísbíltúr?

Save this for your future Iceland adventure and send it to your favorite road trip buddy.

If only these were the only glasses we needed! 🍻😆

When we’re together, it means toasts, laughs, fun IG videos, and lots of travel planning!

During this visit we enjoyed aged sour beer from California and Belgium. What’s in your glasses??

Most people think travel has only two options:

1. Budget everything.
2. Luxury everything.

But honestly?

Our favorite travelers are somewhere in the middle.

They're the ones who:
✈️ Take the red-eye flight if it saves hundreds.
🏨 Stay near the airport for one night to make an early adventure possible.
🍽️ Skip overpriced tourist traps but happily book an incredible local restaurant.
🚤 Spend money on unforgettable experiences instead of unnecessary upgrades.
🍹 Order the cocktail with the ocean view because memories are worth it.

That's where we live too.

We don't believe great travel is about spending the most.
We believe it's about spending intentionally.

That's exactly how we plan trips for our clients by finding the balance between comfort, value, and experiences you'll actually remember.

Which traveler are you?
A) Budget
B) Luxury
C) Somewhere in between

What's one thing you'll always spend more on while traveling... and one thing you'll always save on?

A car-free day trip from the Bay Area? Sacramento makes it surprisingly easy.

Neli: We took the train straight to downtown, arriving just steps from Old Sacramento. From there, we wandered through the historic streets, crossed the iconic Tower Bridge and followed the river to Tree House Cafe in West Sacramento, where the Mango Madness Matcha was absolutely worth the walk.

Next, we made our way toward Capitol Park, with a quick stop at John Frémont Park so the kids could enjoy the playground. After all that walking, refreshing drinks at the colorful Karma Brew Pub were exactly what we needed.

We finished the day watching a soccer game at Kupros Craft House in Midtown before walking back to the station for our afternoon train home.

Historic architecture, river views, great local stops and no need to worry about driving or parking—such a fun and easy family day trip from the Bay Area.

Save this itinerary for your next free day, or send it to someone you’d take with you! And if you’d like more easy getaway ideas planned around your interests, send us a message.

What Laura thought was a ruined day, turned into a fun adventure with family! Rocky Mountain National Park requires a timed entry reservation May-October. You can book these reservations months in advance or during a very short, highly competitive window the evening before your visit. Or, you can just get up early and enter the park before 9am! (In order to visit the popular Bear Lake corridor, you must enter the park before 5am!) Save this post for your next “ruined” trip to RMNP, get up early, and explore these family friendly areas of the park.

-Alluvial Fan-Just down Old Fall River Rd, is a lovely, cascading waterfall. Park at either the east or west lot for a very short hike to see the falls.
-Take in the multiple view points of Moraine Park and lookout for wildlife.
-Enjoy a picnic, conversations with park rangers, and the nature trail at Hidden Valley.
-Take a drive up Trail Ridge Road where you’ll travel to 12,000 ft above sea level! Stop at the many view points for breathtaking views of the park.

One of the best parts of this business is getting to explore new places together.

While visiting Laura and her husband this past weekend, they surprised my husband and me with a tasting they had booked in advance at MeadKrieger Meadery & Wine Cellar and it ended up being one of our favorite experiences of the trip.

We sampled a flight of handcrafted meads, an ancient drink made from fermented honey, and every pour was unique. If you've never tried mead before, this is the place to do it.

What makes MeadKrieger so memorable is how unexpected it feels. Tucked away in Loveland, Colorado, it's the kind of hidden gem you don't expect to find. It's a cozy, Nordic-inspired space with incredible mead, welcoming people, and an experience that's about so much more than the drinks themselves.

With Norway taking on England in the World Cup quarterfinal tomorrow, our visit somehow feels even more fitting.

These are the kinds of places we love helping our clients discover not just the famous attractions, but the local experiences that become the highlight of a trip.

Save this one for your next Colorado adventure, and if you're planning a trip, send us a DM. We'd love to help you uncover hidden gems like this.
