You know the Transamerica Pyramid as a San Francisco icon, but have you experienced it lately?

Following an extensive renovation, its public spaces help anchor the Jackson Square neighborhood, showcasing how San Francisco continues to evolve, invest, and thrive as a destination for meetings and events.

Our city is growing, transforming, and ready to inspire. You need to to see it for yourself.

An unassuming neighborhood has been reborn, complete with a new boutique hotel, cafés and restaurants, art, and—the pièce de résistance—a reincarnation of the most recognizable building in the city.

Did you know sports tourism makes up nearly 10% of global tourism spending?

That’s why insights like the sports tourism study from Expedia are so valuable; they highlight just how powerful major events are for the Bay Area.

San Francisco in 2025 is stacked with sporting events, from the NBA All-Star Game to the Laver Cup, each expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to our region.

And in 2026, it only gets bigger: the Big Game in February and the World Soccer Championships in June and July.

These aren’t just games and tournaments; they fuel hotel demand, drive visitor spending, and keep San Francisco in the global spotlight.

A big thank you to Brett Allor for grounding today’s discussion with a deep dive into San Francisco’s tourism data.

His insights give us the context we need to see how far we’ve come and the opportunities ahead.

One thing is clear: conventions are powering our recovery.

Moscone Center is back in a big way. In 2025, 34 major conventions will generate 657,000 hotel room nights, a 64% jump from last year.

Conventions aren’t just events; they’re an engine of recovery, fueling business travel and creating impact across San Francisco’s hotels, restaurants, and neighborhoods.
