I was in Chinatown yesterday working on clues for the Chinese New Year Treasure Hunt. I came across this 15-foot inflatable cat on display at the Flower Market Fair on Grant Ave. It's part of an art installation, "Arm Day, Leg Day" by artist Bijun Liang, commissioned by the Chinese Cultural Center. Unfortunately, it won't be there on the night of the parade, so I can't use it in the treasure hunt.

A very bright spot as the days grow shorter this month: two sisters asked me to create a treasure hunt for their 81-year old mother and her friends. Their smiles in the photo below (taken in one of my favorite Chinatown alleys) are very gratifying to see.
