Toledo Cheese Depot Celebrating Cheese 365 days a year in Downtown Toledo

Hi friends - its almost that time of year again. 🧀💗

After last year I (Kyle) created ToledoCheeseDays.com as a free community information website for all things Toledo Cheese Days. It includes a history of the original cooperative factory, historical documents related to that, and a page for various 2026 events!

Various small committees of Toledo Lions Club coordinate some of the larger weekend festivities including the car show and parade, but there are also numerous other community events that happen in and around Toledo during this time including Toledo Lavender Festival, Toledo Community Library's Book & Bake Sale, Toledo Senior Center's pancake breakfast, yard sales, class reunions and so much more.

HAPPY ONE MONTH TO CHEESE DAYS!

Historical Market in Toledo gets a spring cleaning

A piece of Toledo history has been standing watch for more than a century, and thanks to the efforts of community volunteers, it received a fresh look during this year's City Wide Clean-Up Day.

Located at the corner of North 5th Street and St. Helens Street, Toledo's Oregon Trail Marker was erected in 1916 by the Daughters of the American Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution to commemorate pioneers who traveled the historic Cowlitz Trail route toward Puget Sound. The marker bears the date "1844," recognizing the era of early pioneer travel through our region.

During Clean-Up Day, volunteers refreshed the pocket park surrounding the monument, helping preserve this important piece of Toledo's history for future generations.

A special thank you to Joh Jones for her dedication to this historic site and for helping keep its story alive. Jo's efforts, along with those of our volunteers, ensure that this landmark remains a place where residents and visitors can connect with Toledo's rich heritage.

The next time you're downtown, stop by the Oregon Trail Marker and take a moment to appreciate both the history it represents and the community members who continue to care for it.
