ADR Another Dam Race was a resounding success, drawing participants from far and wide to the 16th annual paddle race. Initial concerns about the weather gave way to a rain-free day. The collective enthusiasm of racers and spectators created an electric atmosphere.

From the moment the starting horn sounded, energy filled the air, punctuated by the sound of paddles slicing through water and cheers from family and friends. Many participants showcased their team spirit with vibrant gear. Competitors ranged from seasoned paddlers to first-timers, all eager to test their skills and enjoy the camaraderie of the event.

Throughout the day, racers faced challenging conditions, including light winds and the looming threat of rain. However, their spirit and determination shone through. Organizing team members were fully prepared, ensuring safety measures were in place and providing updates about the weather. Participants were encouraged to persevere, and many found their own rhythm despite the uncertainty.

The event also featured Gorditas y mas, who provided food for the 600 racers, families, and friends, H2odzrt water hydrated racer, Pa Reka Reka was onsite with beautifully designed ADR Jerseys, Na Leo outrigger had paddle gear and swag, Auntie Aloha with hand crafted designs while DJ Just Hanke played music to keep the vibe strong. It truly was a celebration of community, emphasizing teamwork and resilience.

Many asked about the history of ADR and its 16th year. The event originated from a discussion between John Burns and Steve Benson en route to a Southern California Outrigger Racing Association (SCORA) meeting, where they stopped at Carl's Jr. and conceptualized bringing back a paddle race to Parker, AZ on a napkin. John Burns met with friend, paddler and bike racer Larry Smith, who held a bike race with the same name, and together they grew the event each year. The legacy of Another Damn Race continues to thrive, honoring his love for competition and passion for bringing people together. Seeing the joy and excitement of everyone involved was a beautiful testament to the vision.

As the day ended, the racers celebrated their accomplishments, regardless of their finishing times. Stories were shared, friendships were made, and plans were already being hatched for the next year’s race. The spirit of Another Damn Race endures, capturing the hearts of all who participate.

Thank you to my beautiful wife , my girls, Team Arizona OCC , sponsors, racers , families and friends.

Here’s to many more years of fun, competition, and community spirit!
