Leopard baiting:
Anyone is welcome to comment, but I would really like to hear the views of those in travel, and/or working in conservation, wildlife management, etc.!

There is a private conservancy in Kenya that started baiting Leopard. I was outraged, and wrote the owner to please stop that practice, stating the conflcts between wildlife and the human population, and why I didn't think giving a wild cat the taste of livestock was a good idea. The owner replied, saying it gives them a chance to dispose of dead cattle, that they were a good distance from human population, and that most guests enjoy seeing the leopard take the bait.

Beyond my above stated reasons, I also think it is taking the wild out of Africa, and makes this experience something like a zoo. I hate it!

An article in the New York Times suggests that now that Tanzania's president has been re-elected, the government will move forward building this devastating road smack through the Serengeti National Park, cutting off the migration route of thousands and thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelles, even though the road could have been built South of the Serengeti, avoiding the horrific impact this road will have on the wildlife in East Africa.
