UPDATE on Jamaica

Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend and are continuing to do well.

Just wanted to keep you updated on Jamaica's current controlled entry protocols. The following summarizes it but I have attached a detailed copy for your information. You can also visit the Travel Authorization page of our website for this information - www.visitjamaica.com/travelauthorization

Jamaica has introduced measures to manage the risks associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. All travellers must obtain a Travel Authorization prior to departure and to adhere to safety protocols while in Jamaica.

Visitors that are vacationing (leisure travel) staying at a approved hotel or villa are not expected to quarantine. However at the current moment based on the information received to the best of my knowledge:



Clients arriving JULY 1-9, 2020 will still be tested for COVID 19 on arrival.


Clients arriving JULY 10 and onward and are still subject to a COVID 19 PCR (Nasal Swab) test upon arrival pending their risk factors.


The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) currently mandates that all clients residing or based in the following states; NY, TX, AZ and FL get pretested using a PCR Test. The results of this test should be uploaded while completing the Travel Authorization Form required to board flights scheduled for Jamaica. Furthermore, the results of this PCR Test must not be older than 7 days prior to the intended travel date.
(This does not apply to clients connecting via airports in the named states.)


However, it is MY personal recommendation that all clients regardless of their state of residence should take a COVID 19 PCR Test prior to traveling as pretesting can allow for peace of mind during travel.
- Additionally, the GOJ reserves the right to make amendments to its protocols without notice in order to safe guard the interests of the traveling public and its nationals. Having the results of this test may lower your need to be tested upon arrival based on your risk factors after document inspection by a Public Health Practitioner.

UPDATE ON CABO RE-OPENING!

LOS CABOS, Mexico, June 16, 2020 – Los Cabos Tourism Board started its phased reopening plan on June 15, enhancing its already strict safety protocols, which are applicable statewide. The government of the state of Baja California Sur announced a new color-coded classification to be given to local establishments, such as hotels, restaurants, bars, tour operators, and convention centers, to name a few, that determine the level of safety they can offer and whether or not they are able to open to the public. The color categorization will be based on density and capacity levels as well as the establishments’ ability to follow the social distancing protocols that were previously announced by the state.

The tourism board has also been working alongside the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) to obtain their global safety stamp of approval that recognizes safe travels protocols. The specially designed stamp will allow international travelers to understand which destinations around the world have adopted global standardized health and hygiene protocols, so visitors can experience “Safe Travels.”

The United States is Los Cabos’ main inbound market contributing 80% of all of its international travelers. As states continue to ease travel restrictions, Los Cabos is working with airline operators to resume travel connectivity to the destination following its phased reopening approach. On June 20, Los Cabos will start welcoming flights from Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago, Charlotte, Houston, and Chicago with airlines including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta, Southwest and United Airlines with Spirit Airlines returning in July.
