Our campground visitors have been a little extra furry lately. 🐻

Did you know? American black bears can run up to 35 mph, climb trees, and have an incredible sense of smell — which is exactly why it’s important to review our Bear Safety Tips before your next camping trip.

We've seen an increase in bear activity, and we need your help keeping wildlife wild. Visitors should properly store food and scented items, keep campsites clean, and never approach or feed wildlife.

Help reduce the risk of wildlife encounters and support a safe experience for visitors, staff, and wildlife alike.

Rangers at work, because even the smallest calls matter.🦆

While working at Avila Beach, a ranger was alerted by a beachgoer to a grebe struggling in the surf—fishing line had wrapped around its legs. After safely detangling the bird, it was brought to Pacific Wildlife Care. With a little help, the grebe made a full recovery and was released back where it belongs.
