Absolutely epic carp action going on after all this rain. The next weeks and months should be killer, and I'm supremely excited for what's to come 😍

Spring is around the corner, and prime dates from mid-March through May are starting to fill up fast! With all the rain we had at the start of the year, the lakes rose fast and some awesome flats that haven’t been fishable for years are now back in business. These are some of my favorite areas to chase carp, and I’m very excited for what this spring will bring.

I am back! After a busy guiding season in Iceland I made it out alive back to the sunshine and good weather of California. I am currently booking for November and December. November can be a fantastic time for carp and bass, and once it cools down a bit the surf will be in full swing, as the prime time in the surf is usually Dec-March, but November can also be a fantastic time for numbers of fish.
I will have flies available on the shop on my website soon as I've been updating the selection and layout a bit, keep an eye out for flies in the coming weeks!
The carp fishing has been good to fantastic since I got back, and have had some of the best days of the year out there lately.

California guiding hiatus until October!

Thank you to everyone who booked a trip or bought flies from me this year, I appreciate you all and can't wait to get back to it in October. Right now I'm about to head off on a flight back home to Iceland for the summer guiding season for salmon, trout and char. All fly orders will be put on hold until then, but keep an eye out for pre-orders in September, as I'll be updating the website with more flies and new options!

Carp.. many of the fly fishing community look down on these fish, but if you like a fish that pulls harder than a freight train, takes more skill than most trout to hook, and actually manages to get your blood flowing, this is the fish for you.

Lucky for you, I'm teaching a carp on the fly clinic with Central Coast Fly Fishing April 23 and 24th, one day each, at lake San Antonio. Camp with us, or show up the day of, but either way it is a blast. Lunch by chef Brandon Miller, and it is delicious, and carp teaching and on the water experimenting brought by me. Come join us, and have the time of your life chasing these local monsters.

I spend months chasing and guiding for Atlantic salmon and huge brown trout and sea trout, but this is a truly special fishery. While I'm sleeping this is what haunts me, a big golden fish slowly torturing my dreams.

Classes include a delicious lunch by chef Brandon Miller, and are overall a blast and are a mix of classroom learning and on the water application of techniques. 🎣
