The "Founding Franchise vs. Northern Rivals" Update

If you noticed we pulled down our last post—good eye. 👀 We had to hit the brakes and update the tape because the latest roster drops and insights for the 2026 MLP Season completely change how we look at the game!

​The season officially kicks off tomorrow, Friday, May 22nd at 11:00 AM CT on PickleballTV up in Dallas, and we have a massive Lone Star rivalry on our hands. Texas has two absolute powerhouse franchises on the board this year: the northern Dallas Flash (backed by Mark Cuban) and our next-door neighbors, the Austin-based Texas Ranchers!

​A lot of people think the Austin squad is the newest group on the block because of how much noise they’re making—but they’re actually one of MLP's original, founding franchises from 2021! 🤠 What makes them feel brand new is a totally revamped 2026 roster and an absolutely insane, star-studded celebrity ownership group that includes Scottie Scheffler, Lil Wayne, Zach Bryan, Kendra Scott, and Micah Parsons.

​And here is the big strategic shift for the 2026 season: The four-player roster era is officially over. 🤯

​To give coaches massive tactical flexibility for substitutions and matchups, MLP expanded rosters to six full players per team (3 men, 3 women)—and everyone is eligible to take the court. Following a crazy flurry of recent trade windows, these final, official lineups are completely stacked:

Dripping Springs Racquet Club Summer Camp is just around the corner and registration is now open in PlayByPoint!

Beginning June 1st, we are offering 8 weeks of action packed fun for kids ages 5-12, with weekly sessions available throughout the summer. We’ll also have our competitive multi-sport summer camp for kids ages 12-18.

📣 2026 Texas Senior Games Registration
​Registration for the 2026 Texas Senior Games is opening soon! I have personally medaled in both the Texas Senior Games and the NSG, and all of those events were a blast!

​This is a Qualifying Year for the National Senior Games in Tulsa, Oklahoma (June 30 - July 11).

​Registration for All Sports Opens: Monday, December 8th

This isn't just practice; it's a final tune-up with an experienced DSRC instructor on the very courts where The Kitchen Open will be held. You'll master key skills to help you perform under pressure, including:

The Third Shot Drop: Repetition drills on both forehand and backhand to get you to the net confidently.

Transitioning to the NVZ: Learn the footwork and shot selection to effectively move from the baseline.

Strategic Kitchen Play: Master tactical dinking to control rallies and create openings.

Live-Play Simulations: Practice teamwork and communication under tournament pressure.

By training on your "home court," you'll build confidence and eliminate last-minute surprises on tournament day.

Dripping Springs Racquet Club is offering exclusive pre-tournament clinics for members competing in The Kitchen Open to sharpen their skills and maximize their home-court advantage.

​The clinics are available for 3.0 skill level players on Saturday, September 20th, and for 3.5 players on Sunday, September 21st, both from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at $90 per person.

The Kitchen Open: September 25th-28th at DSRC (Dripping Springs Racquet Club).

The Kitchen Open Austin is our largest event of the year and the top amateur players from across the country will compete in age and skill-based divisions for some of the best prizes in pickleball, including a $25,000 winner-take-all prize in the Open Division.

This fall’s tournament promises to be one of the most exciting yet. Players can look forward to divisions organized by age (Open and 40+), skill level (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and Open), and gender/mixed doubles. Each participant is guaranteed a minimum of five games to 15 using side-out scoring, the equivalent of seven games to 11. Division winners will take home custom Joola paddles and additional prizes, while all participants will receive complimentary swag bags. The event will conclude with a Finals Party at The Kitchen HQ, where the top eight teams will compete for the $25,000 grand prize.

Recently voted the best tournament in Austin, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
