PARK SPOTLIGHT - Eddie Durham Park is named for local San Marcos resident Eddie Durham, who was a pioneer of the electric guitar in jazz music. He was also a trombonist, composer, and arranger for the orchestras of Bennie Moten, Jimmie Lunceford, and Count Basie. The funds for the park were allocated in 2010 and the dedication ceremony took place on August 13, 2013.
