smart parking helps increase city wellness. By providing a smartphone app such as Parker, showing available parking spaces decrease the amount of cars cruising the streets trying to find open spots. That, in turn, reduces traffic congestion and lowers air pollution. AND the city gets great real-time data for urban planning, deploying bike and scooter stations, increasing multimodality and the over all health and wellness of the city. There is no sign of technology slowing down, especially as it increasingly expands throughout the transportation industry. From drone delivered packages to driverless cars to computer-captain ships. While these advances can contribute in a positive way to sustainability, reducing congestion, improved efficiency, reduction in fuel use, it does leave one wondering at what cost and what new challenges will emerge? The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, released a recent report The Critical Issues in Transportation 2019: Policy Snapshot takes a deep dive into this and more. http://ow.ly/keUU30nLnbQ

Driverless cars maneuvering through city streets. Commercial drones airlifting packages. Computer-captained ships navigating the high seas. Revolutionary changes in technology are taking us to the threshold of a bold and unprecedented era in transportation.

San Diego embarks on an aggressive Journey, embracing multi-modalism, with a redesign that caters less to cars. Reducing the reliance on cars is a big step for any city and requires exploring other modes of transportation. Data and technology help with a lot of those decisions, from resource planning to policy management and urban planning, even helping figure out where your bike or scooter partners should best post up. Good luck

Cities are increasingly steering towards cleaner, healthier, and more multimodal transportation integrating technology and mobility data to help them transition away from being car-dominated and more "livable" The New Urban Mobility Alliance is spearheading great conversations around this. "New Transit Group Want to Steer Cities Toward Better Scooter Policy
Ride-hailing, dockless bikes and scooters, and autonomous vehicles have made the transit and transportation landscape difficult to decipher. Parking engagement and payment interactions are increasingly convenient from finding a spot to paying. We can now park and as we walk to our destination pay for parking via mobile devices. You can even extend parking time with the touch of button or scan of a thumb print. But what are the implications to cities? Are they becoming Smarter Cities? http://ow.ly/ES9R30nFYqZ
"The Value of Smart Parking Systems - Smart cities need smart parking, and urban citizens need somewhere to leave their car without having to walk an unreasonable distance to their destination. The future of smart parking systems will allow us all to make the most of available spots while vastly improving the efficiency of parking management for both drivers and the agencies that control this vital city resource."

As the populations of global urban environments continue to rise, technological advancements in the methods for managing resources are of paramount importance. Fortunately, our cities are getting smarter. Virtually everyone—from citizens to tech developers, merchants, and government agencies—agr...
