- CH hosted the first intercollegiate sporting event in the United States, as Harvard defeated Yale by two lengths in the first Harvard-Yale Regatta on August 3rd 1852
- Built in the 1820s by local merchant John Coe & his wife Lavinia Senter, the Coe House (now The Taphouse), served as a station on the Underground Railroad
- Abraham Lincolnโs wife, First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln, was known to vacation in CH
- Founded in 1878, the CH Town Band is one of the oldest continually playing ensembles in New Hampshire
- The iconic gazebo was once home to one of the grand hotels in town, the Colonial Inn, lost to a fire in 1919
- Center Harbor was adored by renowned wned poet John Greenleaf Whittier & was home to Dudley Leavitt, publisher of the first Farmersโ Almanac in 1797
- CH is the winter home of the MS Mount Washington
- The Kona Fountain was gifted to the town in 1907 by Herbert Dumaresq whose โKona Farm,โ in Moultonborough, was one of the most magnificent estates on the lake. The bronze sculpture & fountain depicts Kona, an Indian boy clutching a wild goose
- The romantic legend of Kona centers around a young Native American who canoed across Lake Winnipesaukee to win the heart of Ellacoya
- Belknap College was a small college in CH that operated from 1963 to 1973. Fleetwood Mac & Ten Years After had a student concert there
