Pet friendly Banyan Villa has just become available for September and October 2026. Perfect time to visit. Crowds are gone and the Gulf is still warm enough to enjoy swimming. Three bedroom 2 1/2 baths 300 steps from the Gulf. If you’re interested message me and I will send you rates. Homes on the island are monthly rentals only.

Hurricane Milton did have an effect on this cute little cottage but minimal. The reaction time from storm to clean up inside was within 24 hours so that gave me a jump on preventing any mold. It is clean and Azak trim molding was installed. It’s a plastic molding that looks like wood and will be easy to clean and reinstall if I ever get water again. I’m sure I won’t 😉 but that’s life on a barrier island. The terrazzo floors are being redone this month and this place will be prettier than ever before. I don’t think the floors were refinished since the home was built in 1973. My love for this island is unconditional and has been since I stepped foot on it with my daughter in 1996. My heart explodes when I see her children enjoying the island.
Unless you have been here you just wouldn’t understand. It’s a Sanibel thing.
Special thanks to my brother Dale and friend David for driving down to help clean up and repair with me.
God gives us situations but he also gives us guidance and solutions.
That’s how I see life and living.
God bless this little island. 🙏❤️

Thanks for all the support with messages and phone calls and prayers. So many prayers!!Water did come in the house and tomorrow the mitigation work begins. There was no water in the two front bedrooms and the bathroom, but the rest of the house did get flooded, but the level wasn’t very high. I believe it came in through the front door over the sandbags. My wonderful brother and a friend are headed down to put the place back together. I love my tribe and my Lord.

This is what I had done again. Last storm is very different from this one. But I did what I could. 🥲🙏
It’s a sad time for so many. My heart is braking not just for myself but for SW Florida and more. Happiness is not the absence of problems but the present of Jesus. That was shared at church Sunday and I will be keeping that in my thoughts . God bless all affected.

Update…
I have several asking me for information on the sandbagging. I am not sure of the process since I wasn’t there but my friend,Christian Torres, along with a couple of guys put that together a day before the storm. The water did not reach my front door but it did save me from water getting in the back which backs up to Palm Lake.

All is well at Banyan Villa. Flooding outside but no water came in!!!
