2025 07-11 SB Channel A gray marine layer finally lifted to sunny skies after noon. The light breeze and light chop on the surface subsided, too. Three more white seabass, raised and released as part of the Ocean Resources Enhancement and Hatchery Program, have been caught as legal-sized adults. The fish were released as juveniles (6–10”) at Marina Del Rey in 2017 and 2020 and at Agua Hedionda Lagoon in 2021. After several years growing in the wild, the white seabass were recaptured by anglers fishing at the Channel Islands and ranged 32–44” (9–25 lb). Big shout-out to the Marina Del Rey growout pen volunteers who helped raise these fish, and to the Coral Sea and Graylight sportboat crews for turning in their white seabass heads so that we can check for hatchery tags!
