A new study by the Universidad de las Américas just gave tacos al pastor a serious health flex—and granola bars are in shambles.

Researchers found that traditional tacos al pastor can be more nutritionally balanced than many store-bought granola bars. Real protein from marinated pork, fiber-rich corn tortillas, and antioxidants from pineapple, onion, and cilantro—versus ultra-processed bars packed with sugar, syrups, and buzzwords.

One is real food.
The other is marketing in a wrapper.

So next time someone judges your taco while chewing a granola bar, remember: one comes from centuries of tradition, the other from a factory meeting.
