Part 1: “Why do I need a Travel Advisor when everything is online at my fingertips?”
I spoke with someone over the weekend about travel. She told me, “I use to have a travel agent, but I just book all our travels on my own now”. If I had more time with her, I would have asked her if she ever had a difficult situation during one of her own booked trips, and how it was resolved. I often have people ask me why I became a travel advisor. The first two things that come to mind for most of us first is our love of travel, and second for the benefit of saving money on personal travel. I always booked our family vacations and have always loved doing research on all things travel. It’s probably my number one “fun” thing to do. I have always had a soul full of wanderlust. Some people don’t realize that we earn commission paid to us from travel partners. They assume they can’t afford to use a travel advisor. I was one of those people. Most people just book online and think they are saving a fortune by finding the cheapest deal. Sometimes the cheapest deal becomes a bad decision. Have you ever booked an All-Inclusive resort without checking the beach quality, what the dining rules are, and how far the hotel is from the airport? That $500 savings can disappear quickly if it’s the wrong fit for you and your travel companions. What if you picked the cheapest room and discovered it wasn’t what you had in mind. You booked the cheapest flight deal online with two connections, then spent 5 hours in a crowded airport waiting to board your 10 + hour flight to London, with your legs folded like a pretzel. Hey, it happens. I’ve been there! These are the things we try to prevent happening on your vacation. You have worked hard and saved for years for your once in a lifetime dream vacation. You want everything to go smoothly. If it doesn’t, that’s what I’m here for. One call or text to let me know you missed your connecting flight and won’t get to your hotel on time.
