What a great kickoff to Garbo Season. For the first time in a long long time everything is open. All the Grouper Species, Snapper Species, Amberjacks, Triggerfish, Let’s Go. I was hearing about sore arms on the ride back today.

These two young men came ready to fish, and the Gulf made us earn every one.

We started the morning trolling the FADs looking for billfish and picked up a few mahi along the way. The billfish didn’t cooperate, so we changed gears, broke out the deep-drop gear and sent baits to the bottom.

That move paid off.

13 tilefish hit the deck, including one absolute stud of a golden tilefish from the deep. Sometimes the best part of offshore fishing is knowing when to switch up the game plan.

The weather kept us busy too. Storms were building around us and we even had waterspouts in the area. Between Starlink, Garmin SiriusXM offshore weather and radar, we were able to keep an eye on everything, work around the weather and keep fishing safely.

Red was the color of the day. These fish were vividly lit up coming off the reef. Vermillion Snapper, American Red Snapper, and a Cobia swam up to the boat that we decided to let live another day. Beautiful sea conditions this week have made for some great trips. Get with us.

There’s something special about taking home more than just fresh fish.

Today’s crew made a Gyotaku print of their child’s red snapper using natural squid ink—a Japanese art form that’s been used by fishermen for generations to preserve the memory of a catch.

Long after the fillets are gone, they’ll still have a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork hanging on the wall and a story to tell about the day it was caught.

It’s little traditions like this that make a fishing trip mean even more. We thought it was too neat not to share.

I think we can all agree that 11yr old Gavin from Gainesville had himself a day! 49 inch Cobia and then he drove the boat back as well ♥️. Says he is coming to work for us next summer as a mate and future Captain 🎣. We have fun out here. Come get with us and Let’s Go.

The smiles tell the story.

Four fishermen. Three brothers. One proud dad. A day they’ll be talking about for years.

This crew made the trip down from North Alabama and put together an incredible catch of American red snapper, triggerfish, vermilion snapper, white snapper, and red grouper. Every fish that came over the rail was celebrated like it was the first, and that’s exactly why we love taking families offshore.

One of the biggest questions we’ve been getting lately is whether you can still catch American red snapper. The answer is yes—aboard our federally permitted vessels. While the recreational and state-water charter seasons have closed, our federal permits allow us to continue fishing for American red snapper in federal waters.

Thanks for trusting Deep Charters with your family’s vacation. We hope those coolers full of fresh fish turn into some unforgettable dinners back home in North Alabama. We’ll be ready when it’s time for round two.

JURASSIC PARK. 🦖🎣
Some places earn a nickname… this one has a reputation.
Starting this August, we’ll be running our new Jurassic Park trips aboard our 42’ Freeman—an adventure that takes us approximately 130 miles offshore to the less pressured grouper grounds along Florida’s Forgotten Coast.
If you’re looking for everyday fishing, this isn’t it.
This trip is built for anglers chasing trophy-class bottom fish, big gags, scamps, red grouper, and the kind of fish that can put you on the leaderboard during the Destin Fishing Rodeo.
We’ll also be mixing in slow pitch jigging throughout late summer and fall for anglers who want to experience one of the most exciting ways to target these deep-water giants.

A fun morning on the water with John and his crew, who are spending the week enjoying our beautiful 30A beaches. We put together a nice snapper haul, and tonight’s fresh fish dinner at the condo is officially taken care of. 🐟🌊

Time for us to clean up, reload the ice, and get ready for Round 2 this afternoon. That’s two chances a day to make some memories on the Gulf, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thanks for fishing with us, John! Enjoy that fresh catch, and have a great vacation!

Quick AM grocery run! 🎣

We had a father, son, and friend visiting from Dallas, Texas, jump aboard this morning with one goal—pick up some fresh fish for dinner with the rest of the family tonight.

The American red snapper and vermilion snapper cooperated and made it into the box. A couple of grouper weren’t so lucky…the sharks collected their tax on the way up, and apparently the dolphins decided they needed breakfast too. 😂🐬🦈

Plenty of action, fresh fish for the dinner table, and back to the dock before the day really got started. That’s our kind of grocery run!

Maybe next time I can get my photography skills together and actually get all the fish in the frame. 📸
