Managed to sneak a trip in this week and catch smooth seas between weather systems with a great group of golfing buddies from UAB.
The conditions weren’t exactly what you’d draw up, but that’s fishing. We put a nice wahoo in the boat, had a yellowfin tuna come tight only to part ways before we could get a look at him, and watched a mahi-mahi pull off one of those last-second disappearing acts that will stick with us for a while.
Some days the fish box tells the whole story. Other days it’s the ones that got away. This trip was a little of both. We will always be happy with wahoo in the box.
Appreciate these guys making the trip down and rolling with whatever the Gulf decided to give us. We have vowed for redemption on that big bull. Looking forward to getting back after them when the weather settles in for our summer pattern next week.
