went out to Hillbottom beach Wednesday morning to try out a new tool idea. Trying to carve thin long lines protruding from a surface. Observations: tool needs to be sharper and the sand needs to be well compacted prior to using the tool.
Still a nice morning on the beach.

A bluejay electrocuted itself this afternoon on a nearby transformer. So the lack of power dictated going out for dinner. On the way home we took a sidetrip to the Stallworth walkover. Bumped into a chap flying a drone out over the Gulf. Fascinating what sealife he could locate in the clear water. The drone followed a turtle, coming to the surface for a breath every few minutes. A 5 or 6 foot shark cruised both sides of the green bank. Most impressive was a school of tarpon (he id'd them) about 50 or more sizable fish. Fabulous.

got down to the beach at 830 am on the Fourth. All of the space on the edge of the Gulf was claimed, mostly by "ghost" chairs. People come down way early and leave the chairs and umbrellas and tents behind, and then come down for LUNCH! Anyways, I moved a couple of chairs back a little bit. Should have had a 2 foot level with me to make sure the letters were all the same size. Too hard to tell when you can't back up to tale a look. Great day for the beach...........

26 Nov.: It was great to end twenty years of sand castle classes with Kelly Stahl's family. Their piece at Ed Walline drew many admirers to step up and praise their creation. Coltin is 9, and the others are Josh, Tyler, Lexi, Scott, Lexi and two little ones I did not meet formally.
