This past September and early October of 2025, Charles and I spent 6 magnificent weeks in Tiburon, with a few days in Napa Valley. Charles was determined that I would fall in love with Tiburon, and I absolutely did.
We worked out every day, ran several sets of stairs, and used the workout facility at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, where we are members. Those were some of the most beautiful weeks of our lives.
Charles was in the best shape of his life, and it showed. We were so encouraged because his recent blood work and scans were great!
Can you imagine losing the love of your life after doctors who knew very little about his medical history decided that a man admitted with acute pneumonitis was instead dying of Stage IV lung cancer with days to live? This was a man who had worked out with his trainer just two days before being admitted.
This conclusion was being made without a biopsy, while the doctors who actually knew Charles, had treated him, and understood his history were telling the hospital that he was not dying of end stage cancer and they needed to focus on his pneumonia and get him home.
In my opinion, what followed was a devastating series of medical decisions, failures to listen, and hospital politics that ultimately contributed to the death of my husband.
There is so much more to this story, and it will be told in its entirety and when the whole story is told, my hope is that it will prevent another family from experiencing what we experienced.
People need to educate themselves and ask questions. Doctors are human beings, they are not gods. No doctor or medical institution should ever be above questions, scrutiny, or accountability.
Nine years ago, when I was diagnosed with cancer and told from a scan that I have six months to live, I personally chose immunotherapy. That experience taught me something I will never forget. Educate yourself and ask questions and know your own medical history. You can never be afraid to challenge a medical conclusion when the facts simply do not make sense.
The questions surrounding Charles’s care, including the medical decisions that were made, the handling of his medical information, and HPPA violations, and malpractice issues, are serious. I will continue asking questions and eventually, the whole story will be told.

I was the wrong woman to hurt in this situation because I will expose it all until I make sure this never happens to another human being.
