The travel industry is always evolving, and staying current is an important part of the work I do as a travel advisor.

In addition to ongoing supplier training, conferences, meetings with cruise-line representatives, and firsthand travel experience, I regularly review current cruise guides, ships, itineraries, and new offerings so my recommendations reflect what is available today.

And cruising today offers far more than one type of experience.

🌿 River cruising continues to expand with new ships, destinations, and itineraries—giving travelers an immersive way to experience destinations beyond traditional ocean ports.

🛥️ Yacht travel is growing as well, from intimate luxury sailings to private charters. While certainly a premium experience, a private yacht can sometimes be more attainable than expected when several couples, friends, or family members share the cost.

✈️ Wanderlust Wednesday 🌍

I’ve had the privilege of planning this couple’s travels for almost four years, and they truly epitomize what it means to be world travelers. They’re curious, adventurous, and almost always ready to answer the question, “Where to next?”

Together, they’ve explored incredible destinations both close to home and across the globe, including Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Canada—and MORE ! 😉

What I love most is that their travels aren’t simply about checking countries off a list. They immerse themselves in each destination—wandering historic streets, experiencing different cultures, seeing iconic landmarks, discovering beautiful little towns, and collecting memories along the way.

And after nearly four years of helping plan their adventures, one thing I know for certain: their travel story is far from finished.

There is always another country to discover, another culture to experience, and another adventure waiting.

✈️ TRAVEL TIPS TUESDAY

Don’t overlook the value of free time on an escorted tour.

One misconception about escorted tours is that every minute of every day is scheduled.

And for many travelers, that’s actually one of the reasons they hesitate to consider one.

But a well-planned escorted itinerary can give you the best of both worlds: the convenience of having the major logistics and important sightseeing handled for you, along with time to explore independently.

These photos from my clients’ journey through Europe are a perfect example.

During their time in Vienna, their tour included a visit to magnificent Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, along with guided sightseeing through the Austrian capital. Then came something equally valuable: free time.

That unscheduled time gives travelers an opportunity to follow their own interests — perhaps stepping inside a historic church, discovering an intriguing museum or crypt, admiring architecture up close, lingering over coffee, shopping, or simply wandering streets they might never have discovered from a tour bus.

My Travel Tip: When comparing escorted tours, don’t just look at the list of included attractions. Look carefully at the pace of the itinerary and how much leisure time is built in.

The best itinerary isn’t necessarily the one that schedules the most.

Sometimes it’s the one that handles the complicated parts of travel for you while still leaving enough room to make the experience your own.

And when I’m helping clients compare escorted tours, that balance is one of the things I pay attention to — because how a trip flows can be just as important as where it goes.

Meaningful Travel Monday ✨

There is something especially meaningful about watching a trip that was once just an idea become someone’s real-life experience.

Recently, my clients were traveling through Europe and sending back glimpses of the places they were experiencing along the way — the breathtaking shores of Lake Como, the history and architecture of Vienna, and the storybook beauty of Dürnstein along the Danube.

And while these photos are beautiful, meaningful travel is about so much more than the photograph.

It’s standing somewhere you’ve only read about before.
It’s wandering through centuries of history.
It’s seeing a landscape so beautiful that you stop for a moment just to take it in.
It’s discovering little villages, local culture, architecture, food, and traditions that make each destination completely its own.

These are the moments that become the stories we tell long after we return home.

One of my favorite parts of being a travel advisor is helping clients move beyond simply going somewhere and into truly experiencing the world. Seeing their photos arrive while they’re traveling is such a wonderful reminder of why I love what I do.

From the Italian lakes to Austria’s grand cities and charming Danube villages…this is what travel can look like when an itinerary becomes an experience. 🤍🌍

TRAVEL CONFIDENTLY ✈️🌍

The more I work in travel, the more convinced I am that thoughtful planning begins with thoughtful preparation.

Behind every itinerary I build is time spent studying destinations, comparing suppliers, reviewing travel styles, completing training, and learning what makes one experience different from another.

My office is filled with travel planners, destination guides, supplier brochures, and reference materials covering everything from Ireland, Scotland, Italy, France, and Spain to Alaska, national parks, small-group journeys, classic guided tours, and unforgettable places closer to home.

I spend time learning the highlights of each destination, the experiences travelers should not miss, the best ways to move through a region, and the differences between suppliers so I can better match each traveler with the experience that fits them best.

And, of course, one of the most valuable ways to learn about a destination is to experience it firsthand.

Some of the places I study are destinations I have already visited, while others are places I will be traveling to in the future. Every trip adds another layer of understanding—how a place feels, how the logistics really work, what is worth prioritizing, and what I would recommend differently after experiencing it myself.

Travel planning should be more than choosing a hotel, cruise, or tour. It should be about understanding the possibilities.

My goal is to know enough about the destination, the supplier, and the style of travel to help my clients make informed decisions and feel confident about the journey ahead.

You can travel confidently knowing that I have invested the time to learn the travel business, research destinations, and understand the available options so I can create an itinerary based on knowledge, experience, and what is right for you.
