2026 Spring Migration: Sarasota to Cedar Rapids, Ia 1389 miles total
Day1: Sarasota, FL to Manchester, TN, 694 miles.
Th June 25: After weeks of motorhome maintenance, perpetual hot weather, and medical procedures we finally have begun traveling. We pray for safety and those around us before starting. My wonderful son-in-law Ryan Livingston has offered to drive our motorhome. Instead of me taking 3 weeks to drive, Ryan will do it in 3 days. (Lord willing I will do my "normal" slow drive this fall) Instead of melting down over Atlanta traffic, road work, or bad accidents around us, Ryan just remains calm the whole way. He is an amazing guy and I am very happy to have him in our family. (Kudos to all you commercial truck drivers out there who endure this stuff daily in your job! I admire you too.) We towed our CRV car on a Uhaul "auto transport trailer" behind our motorhome. Ryan only stops at gas stations to refill. We drove from about 7:30am til about 10pm, a long day. Broken Banjo Rv Park in Manchester Tn is a good one with level concrete slabs and full utility hookups. $80
Day 2: Manchester,Tn to Knoxville, Illinois, 550 miles
Fr June 26 We carefully adjusted tire pressures before setting out about 10am. Road work added time to our drive and we arrived at the Galesburg/Knoxville KOA at about 10pm. Our campsite is well packed rock, and it is level. $80
Day 3: Knoxville, IL to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 144 miles
Sa Jun 27: We left the Knoxville KOA around 9:30 and arrive in Cedar Rapids about 12:30. We returned the auto transport trailer to Uhaul then headed to Texas Roadhouse for a celebration meal. We found an open campsite ( #7) in Morgan Creek park on a Saturday afternoon! $25 (This in itself is a small miracle.) The site is just gravel and has side slope, but for us it is manageable. We put rough cut 2" oak planks under the downhill tires and use the leveling jacks to their max extent and then the motorhome is level.
