SIX RIDES YOU SHOULD NOT USE A FASTPASS FOR
Walt Disney World has a lot of choices when it comes to rides, shows, and attractions. Unless you are going to be in the parks 24/7 then you are going to have to make some choices about what you are going to want to do while you are there. Fastpass+ give you the opportunity to make a “reservation” for three rides, shows, or attractions (Note: Once you use all three Fastpasses you can add a 4th and so on). So, with that being said, choose your Fastpasses wisely.
#6 MUPPETVISION 3DDISNEY HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Muppetvision 3D is a film with a 3D effect in a theater with 564 people. The reason we tell you not to waste a Fastpass on this attraction is because this attraction only last seventeen minutes and as soon as the show ends, they are already bringing in the next group for the next show. Therefore, you are only waiting approximately twenty minutes. In a park where there are rides with much longer waits, I would save a Fastpass for one of those rides. Plus, this is the same 3D film that debut in 1991 so once you’ve seen it once you should be good for a while.
#5 MICKEY’S PHILARMAGICMAGIC KINGDOM
Much like Muppetvision 3D this is a film with a 4D effect and seating for 486 people (and ten wheelchairs). This is twelve minute film that also brings its next group as you are leaving. If you use the My Disney Experience (it’s a must) app it tells you there is a ten minute wait for this attraction. There are so many other rides to use a Fastpass on.
#4 THE SEAS WITH NEMO AND FRIENDSEPCOT
You ride a “Clamobile” through the “ocean” as the characters from, “Finding Nemo” are projected onto the glass as if they are in the aquarium. This makes our list for two reasons: One, this very family friendly ride only last about six minutes and two, the ride drops you off at the aquarium section of the attraction where Turtle Talk with Crush (which is an eighteen-minute show) is also located. You can avoid any line for the ride and go to the far left of the building, go through the gift shop and you are in the aquarium section. Don’t get caught using two Fastpasses for this if you both the Nemo ride and the Turtle Talk show.
#3 FOR THE FIRST TIME AND FOREVER: A FROZEN SING-ALONG CELEBRATION HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
This is a thirty- minute show at the Hyperion Theater in Disney Hollywood Studios. If you and your young princesses are expecting Anna and Elsa sing all their songs, in person, you will be disappointed. Although Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff make appearances it is the royal historians of Arendelle who tell the story of the movie using video clips for the sing-along (with the lyrics on the screen). If you use a Fastpass here you will get preferred seating but it is not worth using one of those coveted Fastpasses for this.
#2 RIVERS OF LIGHTANIMAL KINGDOM
Rivers of Light is the night-time show at Animal Kingdom. Although a Fastpass will get you preferred seating you still will need to arrive an hour in advance to get your seats. If you do stand by (no Fastpass) you still have to arrive at least an hour earlier to make sure you get a seat. Disney also offers Rivers of Light Dining Packages where you can eat dinner (at Tusker House or Tiffin’s) and also get preferred seating at Rivers of Light. Truth be told I enjoy the other parks nighttime shows more than Rivers of Light. With Pandora, the Kilimanjaro Safari, and Expedition Everest I would much rather use my Fastpasses for these experiences.
#1 JOURNEY INTO IMAGINATION WITH FIGMENTEPCOT
This ride originally opened in Epcot in 1983 and introduced the small purple dragon, Figment, who has garnered quite a cult following over the years. Today it is running its third incarnation of the ride. For the most part this is not very well received by Disney fans…who still hope the first iteration comes back. The wait times for this ride are usually twenty minutes at the most and we have found we can get right on the ride if the kids want to do it. This is another ride that drops you in a, now a little outdated, “technological playground” that can be accessed from the outside without doing the ride. Save your Fastpass! Unless your kids want to do this or you just need to spend a little time in air conditioning there is very little this ride offers.
