On the 17th the Algoma Bear was here in town locking through on her way to Thunder Bay I believe? I was able to sneak out and get downtown for some shots of her and as luck would have it, the Nokomis from Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours was out and about so I made sure to get one with the two vessels together! The tour boats are not small by any means so seeing it beside a ship really puts into perspective how big these freighters really are, even when they aren't 1000 feet or more!

The Bear came back downbound yesterday morning and they are now just leaving the Welland Canal to head west over to Hamilton where they will unload and then we'll have to see where they are off to next!

Vanenkevort - known as one of the busiest and most powerful tugs on the Great Lakes, including being able to break through ice!
