Island Shuttle Boat Tours We provide eco/history/maritime tours of Savannah's creeks, rivers, and sounds; we go to Daufuskie and Ossabaw and every island in-between.

Yesterday, after a 1pm run to Daufuskie Island, South Carolina with Danielle and Co. we put the horses in the barn for safe keeping. It's soggy today! We should be back in business tomorrow and ready to serve you:-)

It was the week for early runs to DI. Got Melissa at 7am:-) Nobody on the river but us and the crabbers. Oh ship!

First light trip to DI County Dock with Mike the house mover. Then started heading back to Savannah Boathouse when the thought popped in my head--wait, you have to pick up 12 folks at 10am with Billy running Dash 2. No need to go back, stay here! So I went to the tiny house and logged some couch time. Back to County at 9:40 and here came Billy right on schedule. Loaded up the crowd of super nice folks and super cute littles and got them back in good order. Then Mike called, "come get me!" So all done by 1 pm, boats flushed and rinsed and now for some more couch time:-)

What do we do when it rains?
Well, if thunder and lightning are in the area we wait on shore in a safe structure. If we can see on radar that a shower will pass quickly, we discuss this with you and work out a plan. And if it's just persistent rain with no hazards we put on rain jackets and go get wet.
That's what we did yesterday. We took 3 families of 4 each on two boats to Daufuskie Island, South Carolina . We got hot and sweaty loading the cargo so the rain honestly felt good at first. We put rain and life jackets on the littles and positioned them in the best sheltered spots and off we went. It was an adventure. Somehow, runs in the rain are. Always.
We got those 12 souls to the County Dock safe, warm, but not dry. Jackson was there waiting for them and he cheerfully got as soaked as the rest of us as we loaded the trailer and sent them to lodgings. This is their first time on DI and they are a great group from Atlanta. Be sure and say hi:-)

The Whale calls. "Can you take 11 passengers for a ride to the port this evening?"
"Lemme check with Captain Billy. That's a two boat trip for us." Billy says yes. At 4:30 we head downtown to the Whale's dock. T.O.T. 5 pm.
We have become friends with the Whale, and his admin assistant as well. We exchange hugs and load up and go to the port. For a bit we raft up and the stories and laughter and ch*****ne flow freely. It's a really nice time. At 6:30 we drop them off at their dock. The Whale says "how much?"
"2.5 hours at $450 an hour, $1125 total." He verifies that is for both boats and both captains. "Yes sir." He says "lets round up to $1200. And then let's round up to $2400."
That's a big tip to split. This is why we affectionately call him the Whale. Billy and I head back to the Savannah Boathouse. Smiling all the way:-)

Hop aboard as we go get Clare and Hal from their vacation on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina . Islanders did a wonderful job of making them feel welcome and the weather did it's part too!
