Great news! Thanks Foundation For The Carolinas for Highlighting B. Well Homes!

As local small businesses receive grants from the Access to Capital Small Business Recovery program, we are happy to share their stories! Adrianne Pinkney’s business strategy for B. Well Homes is to provide “a home away from home” as a short and long-term rental solution to travelers in the Charlotte area.

Travel ceased when the pandemic hit in March and within days guests were cancelling reservations leaving her properties vacant through June. A $10,000 grant from the Access to Capital program will allow Adrianne to pay the mortgage on her properties and re-hire one of her team members.

The City of Charlotte and the Foundation recently launched the Access to Capital Small Business Recovery program to distribute $30 million in federal CARES Act funding to local small business. The deadline for grant applications has been extended: They are now due no later than 5 p.m., Aug. 2. For details or to start the grant process: fftc.org/cltcitygrant

Offering short-term rentals was great for the first couple of years, but when the pandemic hit, all travel stopped. COVID-19 hit our business immediately. Short-term rentals seemed like unsafe options for travelers who were afraid to travel or unable to travel. In a matter of days, our guest canceled reservations all the way out until June. Our business looked bleak for months to come. We were unsure how we would pay the bills on our three properties that were completely vacant for the coming months. Business has started to pick up a bit but we couldn’t have made it without this funding. First, we are using our grant to pay the mortgage on the properties. Second, we will re-hire one member of our team and we plan to get to business rolling again. We can’t say thanks enough! We are one small business in Charlotte that is ! @ Charlotte, North Carolina
