Tomochichi, the Native leader who helped found Savannah—was buried with full military honors right in the center of town.
But years later… his grave marker vanished.
A railroad tycoon’s monument replaced it.
Only after public outcry was Tomochichi remembered again,
moved to the corner of Wright Square.
Honored first. Forgotten second. Remembered last.
Savannah never buries history cleanly.”
