This past Friday in Macon, GA, Savannah Arts Academy’s Girls Soccer Team made history, competing in their first-ever GHSA Class 2A State Championship. In a thrilling 6-5 showdown against top-seeded Pike County at Mercer University, the Panthers showcased incredible heart and resilience.

Though they fell just short, their determination and spirit left an unforgettable mark on the field.

We couldn’t be prouder of our athletes for their hard work, grit, and sportsmanship throughout this remarkable season!

A little over a year ago, SAA tragically lost a member of its community. Yesterday afternoon, a group gathered in the Secret Garden at Savannah Arts Academy to honor Ayden Griffin.

Ayden’s mom and sister, representatives from Coastal Harbor Health, and the SAA community joined together to dedicate Ayden’s Buddy Bench.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Ayden's Buddy Bench represents a safe space for students and staff to rest, reflect, and engage in open dialogue. It serves as a reminder that positive mental health begins with communication. Ayden’s Buddy Bench is also a visual prompt for us to realize that no matter the problem, there is always someone willing to help and there is hope regardless of any current circumstance.

We want to extend our thanks to Ayden’s mom, sister, and Coastal Harbor Health System for partnering with us in this meaningful commitment.

There are many mental health challenges facing children and adolescents and an increasing statistic is teen su***de. Since 2007, teen su***de has increased by 62%. There are 5,400 su***de attempts a day by students in grades 7-12 with male su***de rates four times higher than females.

Let’s continue the conversation. Let’s be there for one another. 🩷🐾🖤🐾

🎻 Masterclass with Hina Khuong-Huu 🎻

SAA was thrilled to welcome classical violin soloist Hina Khuong-Huu for a masterclass last Wednesday! Two of our talented junior violinists, Aiden Lee and Samuel Barrow, had the incredible opportunity to learn from her expertise. Our Advanced Ensemble 2B also joined in, gaining insight from her world-class technique and artistry.

Hina was in town to perform the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Jean Sibelius on Saturday, May 3rd with the Savannah Philharmonic.

Thank you for sharing your time and talent with our students! ✨ 🙏

The SAA Panthers track team is making serious strides this season! 🐾💨

The team clinched second place in the region, and an impressive 20 runners are headed to sectionals next Friday in Commerce, Georgia.

Leading the charge for the Panthers was distance standout Francie Tedder 🏅, who dominated the competition by taking first place in both the 1600m and 3200m races. And keep an eye on rising star freshman Fitz Diass 🔥—he blazed his way to first place in the 3200.

Way to go, Panthers—and good luck at sectionals! 🐾💪
