Sometimes, to make one single photo happen, there’s a whole little movie happening behind the scenes.
That morning, our entire group walked over 50 feet along the beach, moving left… right… forward… back… trying to perfectly line up the sun + the surfer + the pier + the reflection all on the same magical axis.
Every step felt like playing Tetris — but the photography edition.
And the surfer?
He became the accidental celebrity of the day.
We had already taken several shots of him, and when he realized he had a whole crew of photographers following him like his personal entourage, he laughed and said:
“Man… I feel important today!” 😄🤙
So there he was, walking calmly toward the water…
And behind him, five photographers moving in slow motion with tripods and cameras, trying to capture that perfect shadow on the golden wet sand.
A simple, funny, beautiful moment — the kind that only happens when good light, good people, and a surfer with personality all meet in the same place.
